When Lockdown Level 4 permitted exercise between 6am-9am, cabin fever literally kicked my butt out the house to venture through my neighbourhood like never done before, bearing witness to the beauty of nature, the artistic architecture and the generosity of the community.
By no means can I refer to myself as a lover of brisk walks and morning workouts, but when the walls of the house felt like they were creeping in, only solution was “OUT”
Out into the streets of my neighbourhood, where the early morning Autumn sun has this beautiful golden glaze, shimmering off the orange, brown and red coloured leaves of the trees. Feeling the cool morning breeze gently touch my skin as I greet residents cycling, walking their dogs, or jogging by.
I never expected to appreciate nature as much as I have during these morning walks. From the colourful flowers to the large aged trees towering the streets, even to the range of exquisite birds showing off their uniqueness, such as the Cape Glossy Starling to a Brown Snake Eagle
The silver lining during this period of lockdown is that I have discovered a means to jump start my day with moving my body and pushing it daily and returning home with a “feel good” attitude.
All the photos below were taken with my Huawei P30 Pro capturing just some of the magic along my walks, the walks that have now become part of my lifestyle.
